How to get the tripod collar off of the Nikon 80-200 AF-D F2.8 Nikkor Lens?

I can't manage to take it off, is there a secret to it? HA.

If it's the lens I'm thinking of, once detached from the camera body there should be a very small silver grub screw at the rear to loosen it, then it comes off backwards with a twist. Otherwise email Nikon.

On the collar where the two sides meed and thecollar becomes flat there should be a small screw there to undo, loosen this and you can take the collar off. Hope that helps you

I have the same lens. The collar can't be removed. Thom Hogan also mentions this in his review of the lens ( http://www.bythom.com/nikkor-80-200-lens.htm ), as does Ken Rockwell in his comparison of the 80-200 versions ( http://www.kenrockwell.com/...istory.htm ).
