What's the difference between a 18-55mm lens and a 18-110mm lens?

Alright camera guru's, this is your time to show what you know. I'm wanting to buy a camera (a Nikon D1300 to be exact) And I'm in a debate with a 18-55mm lens and a 18-110mm lens, but I don't know the difference really. I'm wanting to use it for travel mostly, so landscape shots, scenery and almost portrait I suppose etc. So what would be a better lens. Also, try and explain it to someone who doesn't fully understand this lens system, because you are. Thanks!

Added (1). Sorry - I meant 18-105mm, not 110, my bad. Someone got that number stuck in my head for some reason.

The 18-55 and 18-110 are the focal length ranges for zoom lenses. The smaller the number the wider the angle of view. 18mm is wide angle, above 100mm is telephoto. So these two lenses have the same wide angle view, but the 18-110mm will "see" further than the 18-55mm. Or it will make something appear bigger at 110mm than the 18-55mm will at 55mm.

While it should be obvious, here is a link that will help you understand the angle of views of different focal length lenses.

Nikon makes a 18-105 mm lens. Where did you find a 18-110 mm lens?

If you want a single lens solution, you will want to look into the 18-200 mm VR lens

Here is a list of all the available Nikkor lenses

You can zoom more with the 18-105 than the 18-55. You can get around 50mm difference with the 18-55 by moving yourself closer to the subject. Most people love the zoom range because it is very convenient.

I believe also the 18-55 is sharper than the 18-105, but not enough for most people to notice. You will only notice if you are looking for it.

At 18-55mm they are the same. Beyond that the 18-110mm will have extra focal length range. Don't get it yet? Those numbers are all focal length. Think of them as angles of view. The smaller the number, the wider the angle of view. At 18mm, you could take the whole Grand Canyon (so to speak). At 35mm, you take at the same angle of view as your eyes. At around 55mm you can make objects seem closer to you. The more mm the lens has, the closer to you very far objects will seem to be.
