What's is a high quality camera under $600 that can record video and pictures?

I have been searching around trying to find myself a new camera.
I've always loved photography, but have never had a HD type camera.
Plus I want to be able to take video with it…
My price ranged is under $600, and I want to be able to buy it from a store, not online.
Canon and Nikon are manly what I've come across for high quality, but if you have any other suggestions, please feel free and let me know! It would be much appreciated!

Usually you can buy cameras at a cheaper price online though… I think you don't want to buy it online since the shipping&handling cost. You can always check out Best Buy for this camera. Always call before going there since it might not be available!

A nikon d3100 is a good choice. Now intil nov. 19 its goin for about 550 on B&H… Heres a link.

By the way it's not an HD camera, there's no such thing. It can shoot HD video but there's no such thing as HD photos.

The t3 is a good suggestion for your budget. Being a Canon owner I know their gear, it's very high quality.
