What type of camera should a begginer get?
I want to get into photography and I don't know what camera to buy or even where to start yet.
If you want to learn the fundamentals of photography, you need some type of fully adjustable camera. That means that whether you spend $450 for a refurbished Nikon D3200 with 18-55 mm lens or over $50,000 on a Phase One medium format digital camera, the learning curve will be the same.
There really are NO cameras with "training wheels". Sure many allow you to shoot in full auto, but you are NOT going to learn the fundamentals of photography doing that
Visit the Nikon, Pentax, Canon and Phase One websites and see which cameras will do what you want as a novice photographer and will allow you to grow into an advanced amateur photographer.
While visiting those sites, you will learn what those cameras cost, the lenses cost and what camera and lenses are available for you goals.
The link below will help you understand how to balance ISO, shutter speed and lens aperture and that will be a great start Just want to take pictures? Beginners can start shooting at once with a point-and-shoot camera. Get the most expensive you can afford. The pricier ones have better features and are built to last longer.

If you, however, want to learn photography and be serious about it, get a dSLR. All brands and all models are good. Like with point-and-shoot cameras, buy the most expensive you can afford. Don't be bothered by specs right now. You'll get the same picture whatever camera you choose.
