What settings should I have my Nikon J1 on?
I have the Nikon J1, I'm going to be taking pictures of my friends for there senior pictures. All my directions and manuals are in japanese… So I'm out of luck. But if anyone has the camera and is pretty professional with it or comfortable and know how to use it well, can you please tell me what settings I should have it under? Please and thank you.

The settings are pretty easy when you learn how to use the camera but are different for every shot. That is why the camera has so many settings and adjustments - there's no "one-size-fits-all". If there were such a setting then Nikon and the rest would save thousands churning out cheap point and press cameras that needed no complex electronics or optics.
Google for "Nikon J1 Manual" and you will find lots of sites to download an English version of the manual.
A professional wouldn't touch this camera. Just put it on auto.
