Any suggestions on what settings I should have my camera set on?
I'm gonna be shooting some photos of children outside around early dusk, I'll be using a Nikon d60… Any suggestion will help!
There are no magic settings to make everything perfect… It is all trial and error… Put it all on AUTO and you should be fine…
Well, if you use a shutter speed like 1/100, or even 1/20 the picture will be underexposed so you're better off using a flash as fast the shutter speed can get (which is usually 1/200)
Just use the cameras light meter.
Your goal is to balance the ISO, shutter speed and lens aperture to provide well exposed images that are not blurred due to camera or subject movement caused by using shutter speeds below 1/200th second.

If you use an external flash as fill light, that should do the trick
I'd recommend ISO 100 and a wide aperture and a long focal length to isolate the kids from the background and get some nice looking photos.
