What Nikon do you suggest for someone who wants to take photos for?

I want to take photos for my boyfriend's band and also landscapes so i can take my own photos for painting. What camera would you suggest for those tasks?

For landscapes, almost any camera will do. The deciding factor will be what size you want to print, obviously, if you want to print large copies (ie A3+, you will need a reasonable lens. Look in reviews at your price point, and pay particular attention to colour rendition. For your purposes here, you need accurate colours.

For taking pictures of a band, this is much more challenging, (assuming you are talking rock as opposed to brass), you need good lowlight performance, and therefore need a big aperture lens. You may also need to be able to plug in an external flash. In reviews. Check low light performance, especially whether clean blacks ar reproduced, and look for RAW format, as this produces unprocessed images, which you can then manipulate much more easily in software.

Look at the Nikon D3200.

It has the best low light performing sensor of any entry level camera

You will need some kind of wide angle zoom lens like the Nikkor AF-S 10-24 mm lens to shoot brilliant landscapes, but for now the 18-55 mm lens at 18 mm will work.

You may want to buy a nice AF-S Nikkor 50 mm f/1.8 lens for shooting your boyfriends band in the various venues
