What is a great camera with fast shutter speed?

I have a nicer Nikon but the shutter speed on it isn't so great and its pretty big. I want an additional cheaper camera (around 100) to take to concerts or the beach that is not as large so it will fit in my purse and is easier to carry around. My only request is a fast shutter speed with decent pictures of course. Any good ideas?

How fast a shutter speed do you want, or need? Or do you mean shutter lag (time between pressing the button and the photo being taken)? Most cameras have faster than 1/1000sec these days as the shutter speed which is more than enough for most general purposes.

Any compact P&S can shoot 1/2000 second exposure, which is plenty fast for shooting action, BUT if there isn't enough light, the camera won't shoot that fast. What you're talking about is "shutter lag" and all P&S cameras suffer from that. All $100 P&S cameras will be slow.

Go to the Fuji web site and look at some of their smaller cameras! Great value, try and get one with a 5x optical zoom lens. I feel a 3x optical zoom is useless!

I really like Canon Powershot A2200 camera. I spent several weeks shopping around for a digital camera that could do it all and I think I got it when I bought this camera. It met most of the criteria on my wish list with 14.1 MP and 720p HD video.
