What dslr camera is worth getting with 400-600$?
I want to get a good camera to take pictures of the family on trips and etc. And i was looking online and i've seen this site and tells me what i should look for when getting a dslr camera
http://www.digital-photography-school.com/how-to-buy-a-dslr-camera
and i was thinking about getting a canon or nikon, depend on which has all the things that site listed when looking for a dslr camera
and i was wondering what dslr camera would be good for my price range of 400-600$? Not the professional kind, but yeah, what would you prefer with a price range of 400-600$?
You can get the Canon, Nikon, Sony (used to be Minolta) and Olympus in this price range. They are all good cameras and by shopping on Ebay you can even get them as a kit with multiple lenses and attachments in the price range you want. I purchased a returned Minolta with two lenses, software and flash from the Best Buy outlet on Ebay for three hundred bucks. Great camera. The Canons would have been a better deal, but I already had a Minolta AF so by sticking with the brand I could uses all my lenses and filters with the new camera.
I would suggest Nikon d5000
A good review from an actual user.

If you can go to a camera store and try to know what is best in your hand that would be the best test.

The Pentax K-x was chosen by the 'Technical Image Press Association' as its 2010 "Best DSLR Entry Level".
The K-x has:
1) A CMOS sensor for superior performance in low-light and at higher ISO settings.
2) Live View.
3) HD Video.
4) Double/multiple exposure capability.
5) A focus motor in the camera body so any auto focus lens made for the Pentax mount will auto focus as it should.
6) Image Stabilization (IS) in the camera body so any lens used becomes an IS lens.
7) The same lens mount - the "K" mount - first introduced in 1975.
Note that the Nikon D3000, D3100 and D5000 models do NOT have a focus motor in the camera body so only Nikon AF-I or AF-S lenses will auto focus on them. They also do not have in camera IS so you have to pay for it again and again - and not every Nikon lens has that feature.
Here is a review of the K-x:

At B&H the current price for the K-x is $530.95 - http://www.bhphotovideo.com
