You know two manufacturers and can't even spell one of them?

Stick to a sketch pad.

I would so love to watch you take photos of mountains with a cannon (instead of a Canon camera)! LOL

What makes you think that the brand matters when it comes to "mountain photography".

Before you go shopping, do yourself the favour to do LOTS of research and learning about photography, cameras and lenses. For now, just stick with whatever little P&S camera you already have - they take decent enough photos in good light.

You are not going to find a cannon unless you want to shoot cannon balls.

Both Nikon and Canon dSLR cameras can do what you want. You need to be looking that the right lenses for shooting in mountains.

When I'm in the Nevada Sierras, I use a 12-24 mm lens on a Nikon cropped frame camera.

DSLR? Any will do. A Pentax would be great though!

Grin.

Point-and-shoot? Pentax or Canon would be better.

My best friend is a photographer… We had discussion on the same which one is the best Nikon or Cannon. For me both are good but according to him Cannon is the best for Mountain photography & for travelers -- sharp lens quality and other features.

A huge difference between the two.

Only you can answer this because you would be getting so many different answers.

This type of question gets asked about which Camera Manufacture, Camera Model is better, recommended, or "Which One I Should Get" far too often.

It comes down to personal preference where some may like how Nikon feels in their hands or how the layout of the Nikon Cameras are. Vice Verse on Canon Cameras.

Nikon fans would be saying to get Nikon. Same thing with Canon Fans where they would be saying to get Canon.

So otherwise it all comes down to personal preference.

Also how much money are you willing to spend? You need to set yourself a budget. Because cameras cost from a few hundred to thousands of dollars
