Manual focus, manual apature is fine… Thanks
Nikon's manual focus lenses are called, "AI," or, "AIS," - a large number of third-party manufacturers also made lenses in this fit, and the used market is awash with them, at stupidly low prices.
They will fit your camera without the palaver of an adapter, BUT allow neither autofocus nor metering (you'd be wise to invest in a hand-held exposure meter) - this would be true of ANY MF lens, but most adapters have corrective lenses which change both focal length and aperture.
One of the reasons I bought a Pentax DSLR is that my gadget-bag full of MF lenses still allow metering on their bodies.
With Nikon, look for AI, AIs, AI'd or get an "M42 to Nikon F adapter" and use any old 42mm screwmount lens with your camera.
- Is the Nikon D5300 still worth it being 7 years old compared to newer camera models in the same price range?
