Nikon D5200 DSLR Camera?

So is this a good camera or not? I'm just beginning and I'll be using this for pictures and Film projects to create a portfolio for Colleges. I'll also try to get another lens to shoot from a distance any suggestions?

It is a rather excellent camera, especially for what it costs.

If you want to shoot things at a distance like sports, action or wildlife, you can look at one of the long zoom lenses available for that camera Any AF-S lens like the 55-200 mm, 55-300 mm or 70-300 mm will do the job

If you look, your "film" projects are actually video projects. Film is just too expensive for students when compared to shooting video from the same scripts

It's fine, but honestly it is also unremarkable. The Pentax K 50 is a better camera for the money. Either way, any new dSLR will deliver great quality shots in the right hands.
