The D5100 won't cost you as much and is worth a look.

Check some of the reviews and comparisons on You Tube out.

If it is guaranteed new and has warranty that works in your country, yes it is a good DSLR.

Can you "go for it"?

Hell, if you have the money, yes you can "go for it".

Why do I get the feeling that if you do "go for it" that you will never read one page of the user's manual and will be back here asking inane questions such as "My new Nikon D5200 is not taking amazing pics. What is wrong with it"?

What types of photography do you want to do? What's your budget?
What is it about the D5200 that makes you think it's the one for you? Not saying that it isn't since I know nothing about you, your skill level, or what you want to do.

It's simply not possible to say yes, get this or that camera without know the needs of the user. The D5200 is going to be a great camera for the vast majority of entry-level or mid-level users. Just don't fall into the trap thinking that more pixels means better picture quality because it doesn't. More pixels means being able to print larger, but at the sacrifice of image quality. Take a look at the new Canon 5DS R at 51MP, very high resolution but it's dynamic range is shallower than other cameras because of it. So those who need to print use will get it, and those who don't will skip it.
