Nikon D5200 Good choice as first DSLR camera?
Been looking around and the new Nikon D5200 seems like the camera for me i like the look and feel of it also the features seem pretty nice also. Just wondering if any one has had a play with one also and for your opinions on it against other cameras.
much appreciated.
It sounds like you have decided already, Nikon is certainty a well known make
The Nikon D5200 for you First DSLR camera, may prove to be too advanced
But maybe a vist to a local camera shop might be a good idea - then you could compare other makes too
Since all fully adjustable camera work the same whether you pay $650 or $43, 000, the D5200 will not only be a great camera for a beginner, it will last you for many years.
What you have to do with any dSLR is learn how to balance ISO, shutter speed and lens aperture.
Here is a site you can practice doing just that.

It is OK if it is your first DSLR and you are a beginner. But if you have any old Nikon lenses from a 35mm film SLR, then you may want a D7000 if you want to continue to use those lenses to their maximum functionality.
Very nice camera to start with. I have the D5000, and have been very happy with it.
Check out the videos for it on youtube.
