I'm going to buy a Nikon 1 j1 but I want to know would it be cheaper to buy the body then a lense or buy it all together and does any one know if it comes with a free lense

The Best thing to do is to buy the lenses you think you will use. Lenses and focal lengths that will suit your needs. The reason there are so many choices is that different people have different needs. It is best to use what you have and understand your needs.

most people find the kit lens indispensable when learning - which is a great place to start.
Nikon 10-30mm

Not everyone needs a 300mm lens.

Some people will find the Nikon 10-100mm a little to large and heavy to use on the camera all day long. Others like the flexibility.

For my photography, if I were to use the Nikon 1J, I'd have the Nikkor 10mm. Because that's how I like to shoot. Small and compact. The lens is more difficult to use because it is not as flexible as the other lenses mentioned above with multiple focal lengths. However, I'm use to and prefer to shoot primes. So that lens fits my needs.

My advice? Don't buy it at all! You'll be much better of with something like the Nikon D3100 or D3200. The J1 doesn't even have a viewfinder that you can look through. Nor a hot shoe for a flash unit. I believe the J1 comes with a kit lens. But it's not that impressive.

I would buy it with the kit lens, as they tend to be the most useful overall. Then buy additional lenses for those situations you find the kit lens lacking.

As far as I know all together is cheaper… Also if you by body then a Lens you will double shipping costs
