When i zoom out all the way and get really close to an object, it still won't let me take the picture. It makes this weird clicking noise. I tried to have it in every mode but it still won't let me take the picture. Doe anyone know what i can do?

Well, the Xt is actually a Canon. First problem, you don't know your camera very well:/

Your lens can only focus so much on an object at a certain distance. Back up a bit, make sure your settings will give you the correct exposure. If need be, crop in your photo in any software (make sure the resolution is at 300, though). Hope this helps, and God bless.

Well, I assume you have a Canon Rebel XT or a Nikon D-something… There's no such thing as the camera you list.

Plus, it is not your camera that can't take close pictures it is your lens. What you need is a macro lens. You need to find a macro lens that fits your camera. It is easy just go to: http://www.neocamera.com/search_lens.php?by=feature and select your brand of camera and the icon with the flower. Click on the SEARCH button and you will see all the lenses that fit.

Here is one for Canon cameras:
Canon EF-S 60mm F/2.8 Macro USM (http://www.neocamera.com/lens.php?id=213)
and one for Nikon:
Nikkor AF-S DX 85mm F/3.5G ED VR (http://www.neocamera.com/lens.php?id=36)

If you need to take ultra-close pictures, like the eyes of insects, this is the best one:
Canon MP-E 65mm F/2.8 1-5X Macro (http://www.neocamera.com/lens.php?id=214)
This is a manual focus lens only for close-up shots but really awesome for what it does.

It is a Canon not a Nikon but your problem is that your cameras lens is not designed to focus very close. It is not a macro lens. The minimum focusing distance is around 2 feet. If you want to take macro shots you will need to buy a macro lens. These are not cheap. Prices are from about $260-$1, 000.
