Lexar CF Card compatibility with Canon?

Okay so I have a Canon EOS 40D, and I need a CF card. I found the "Lexar Professional 800x 32GB CompactFlash Card" and I need to know if it is compatible with my camera. I don't want to have to spend $50.00 if it's not going to work. Please let me know!

Added (1). Also, I'm wondering if the SanDisk Ultra compact flash card would work better (or even at all)?

Have you looked in the user manual?

It is not usually a good idea to consider memory cards as you would a hard drive.

The workflow when using a digital camera is best if you do this

* Use a memory card large enough to hold the number of images you tend to shoot in a single day
* At the end of each shooting day, copy all the image files to a hard drive to a new file folder named for the subject/location and date (so you can find your images later)
* Once the images are safely on the computers hard drive, format the card using the format feature on the camera.

Even if your 40D (one of Canon's classics) can use such a large capacity memory card, there are other issues. The 800x speed cards use a protocol called UDMA (and that is now at level 7) and older digital SLR cameras do not support that, so the actual read/write times will be longer if your camera can use such a large capacity card.

Really all you can do is insert the 32 gb card into your camera and see if it can be formatted by the camera. My guess is that you have a 50% chance of that working. One of my colleagues had an older Canon camera and it could not use CF cards larger than 2 gb. On the other hand, my old Nikon D100 can use any CF card I insert into it.

According to page 28 of your manual, it will accept 2GB and higher cards.

And yes, Lexar and SanDisk are good brands.
