I bought a new SD memory Card of 8GB capacity. So that I can store more songs and videos in it. But when I inserted in Nikon D7000 camera, It showed "Card is not formatted". I formatted it and stored some songs in it. After few days, the same error started to show again. I can't format it so frequently. Formatting of SD card will remove my songs as well. It takes 2-3 hours in formatting and restoring the songs again. I do not have the copy of previous songs also. Please suggest me.

My camera only takes certain kinds. Like kodak.

Format your card with sdcardformator utility (SDcardassociation.org) and never use windows or linux to format your card.

They damage it.

The camera supports SDHC and SDXC so it's not going to be a problem with that.
Like said, it could be the manufacturer of the card. Sounds silly I know but we have a had a few cases at work where certain brands won't work with certain cameras.
I tend to go for Sandisk.

Maybe your camera needs to format the card in a way that it will only read photos off the card. By adding songs you could be disrupting the way in which the card is set up?

Instead of restoring the song files after formatting, first copy the songs to some place else. Then format and copy the files to your SD Card. Why would a camera need songs & videos in the first place? Hope this solves it. Merry Christmas.

Your Nikon camera probably requires a special file format which is not the default when you format the SD card using Windows. I suggest that you format it from the camera and then restore your songs and videos to it using Windows.

And you said it takes 2-3 hours on your computer to format and restore you songs? Something must be wrong with your computer. Do you have USB 2.0?

May be it's not supported or it could be faulty memory card, try diff card of same capacity if it works normally exchange your card to new one. Gud luck

His may be caused because the SD card has been removed before your PC has compeleted writing to it.
