Will the Nikon 50mm f/1.8D AF Nikkor Lens fit on the Nikon F camera?

yes, it will fit and you can use it, but there will be some small limitations
as for what is better, the AE-1 is more amateur level, whereas the F was, and still is considered a pro-SLR camera.
in film cameras, there really isn't any better persay. The quality of your pictures lies in the lens, your technique, and film. What is nice about the Nikon system is that you can use many of the lenses from back then, on todays cameras (see the linked chart for full compatibility). The Canon AE-1 had an FD mount. When canon changed over to their modern EOS mount, FD lenses basically became useless.
I have read some glowing descriptions of the Minolta Autocord. It is older than the Mamiya C330, so I suspect that you have a better chance of finding a Mamiya in good condition. When last seen Adorama had one. It is not cheap.
It will fit, it will work but it will create a small picture on the film with very wide, dark and fuzzy borders. That's because that lens is made for digital crop sensor dSLRs only. No matter where attach that lens, it will not fill the whole frame of a 35mm film.
Vintage cmaera? Get anything you fancy. Just make sure you select from those that use size 135 (35mm) or size 120 film only. The rest are harder to find.
Umm, the 50mm f/1.8D is NOT made for the crop sensor cameras, it is a full frame lens. It also has an aperture ring, meaning that you could technically use it on an F body.
The Nikon F is a tank of a camera, but the quality of the photos is controlled by the lens and film, the body is just a device to hold those items. It is completely mechanical in operation, whereas the AE-1 requires batteries. Other than that, whichever one suits your needs and budget is just as good as the other. My F was purchased in 1973… And still works just like it did then.
