What is the difference between AF Nikkor 50mm f/1.4D & AF-S NIKKOR 50mm f/1.4G?
What is the difference between the D & G?

The AF-S lens is the newer model, and will focus faster than the D.
A "D" Nikkor lens is able to communicate the focus distance to the camera body, which is used in flash calculations.
A "G" lens has no aperture ring, and has the "D" functionality included.
All of the above answers are correct, but I need to add one move very important difference. That AF-S lens had a built-in autofocus motor so it can AF with Nikon entry-level cameras such as the D40, D40x, D60, D3000, D3100, D5000, & D5100. The first lens will work only in manual focus on those bodies.
Two reviews for you.
