Nikon SLR Cameras

What FILM cameras fit a Nikkor 35-70mm f/2.8 AF-D lens?

I bought the lens for a Minolta X-700 only to realise that it didn't fit. Now I'm hunting an Ebayable film camera to fit the lens because it is, according to reviews, better than I could otherwise afford. I'm a student, so I don't really want to spend more than £50. Any cameras that would fit will please me.

Added (1). I was wondering if there were cameras that were not Nikon that would fit this lens as Nikon cameras are expensive. I'm a student so the F series is slightly out of reach.

I'm sure you could find a cheap nikon N65 camera.

each camera brand has different mounts, so you can't really use the lens on a non-nikon camera (as you found out the hard way). You may be able to use it with an adapter on a different camera brand, but that will add to the price.

Any Nikon SLR that was made after the Nikon F mount was introduced will work with that lens. Try looking at models like the F55, F65, or F75 to start with. They sell for less than $50 with lenses in many cases, and they are suitable for student work.

You may be able to find a great deal on a body if you look at local thrift stores. I have found a couple of bodies for under $5, so it is certainly worth a shot.
