I'm going to buy Tamron 17-50mm 2.8 soon as all around lens. Should I sell my Nikon 50mm? What do you think?

The 50 mm lens is a portrait lens, so if you intend to shoot more portraits, keep it.

The 17-50 mm lens actually replaces your old 18-55 mm lens but is much faster at f/2.8

I'd say no, because with it you still get to shoot f/2.0-2.5 at 50mm, while with the 17-50mm you'll probably need to go beyond f/3 to get decently sharp photos.

IMHO, the prime would still be significantly faster than the zoom even if it's just a one and a half stop difference. I wouldn't sell.

If you are desperate for £80 sell it. Otherwise there should always be room in your kit for a fast prime lens.

I have a Nikon 17-55mm f/2.8 that I love. But I always pack my Nikon 35mm f/1.8 for those times when the lighting is extra challenging or when I really need that shallow dof (bokeh). Your 50mm f/1.8g should remain a valuable part of your lens arsenal, unless you absolutely need the funds.

You will know soon enough. The f/1.8 aperture is more than a stop brighter than f/2.8, plus the 50mm lens has a closer 18" focusing distance than the zoom. There are reasons not to sell the 50mm, but it'll be up to you as to whether you actually need it or not.
