Can I use this lens on my DSLR?

I have and old SLR lens that is a Nikon AF Nikkor 28-80mm f/3.3-5.6G, I was wondering if I could use it on my Canon Eso Rebel Xs?

Can likely be coupled using an adapter. To be honest it's a pretty junk lens, stick it on ebay and buy a lens that is compatible with your system.

Perhaps you can with an adapter nikon-cannon, though the focal length will change, something about x1.4, in the most of digital slr and you will loose all electronic features

Not really.
Technically, yes, but the adapter will slow down your process of shooting

I guess the question many of us have is why you jumped camera systems to buy an entry level XS when the similar entry level Nikon D3100 has superior low light performance.

No. And I don't think this lens is worth an adapter, it's one of the worst nikon ever made.
