AF Nikkor 50mm f/1.4 Lens on DSLR?

My dad gave me his old SLR Camera (Nikon N5005) with a AF Nikkor 50mm f/1.4 lens. Can I buy a DSLR Body and fit this in there? How good is this particular lens? I know that he had this around 1995-2000, so it's not new.

It's still quite a good lens. Been in the nikon lens lineup for ages and was only replaced last year. Sure, it will work on a DSLR, but you'll need a d90 or better to get it to autofocus. Alternative would be selling it, a good one fetches 200-230 euros here.

Nikkor is a fantastic lens but a 50mm is a cheap lens to buy. So personally i would rather buy the camera that is best suited to myself than the Lens. Most 50mm take good pictures when you start getting into wide angle fish eye and telephoto then the Lens means so much more.

Yes. Perfect! Make sure the body you get can autofocus the lens. That means no D3000, D40, etc.
