Is this even remotely possible?
Totally spitballing here…
I love the look of the old Nikon SLR's, but I want it to be digital. Is there any way to take the guts of a dslr and put it into an old school slr body? I understand that the sensors are different, so it'd be everything from the dslr and simply the slr body casing. Any ideas?
Added (1). Well, challenge accepted.
No way.
SLRs do not even have "sensors" at all. Also, the mechanics of each camera are designed to fit specifically its own type of body. E. G. The body has places where screws attach that hold the internal stuff in place.
Furthermore, the internal mechanism of a SLR or DSLR is very precisely assembled, there aren't really any tolerances there. You most definitely wouldn't even be able to put a DSLR back together into its own body after taking it apart, as many components would be misaligned then that need to be precisely aligned with special tools and measuring instruments.
So… Forget about it.
Ye-NO
No way.
There was a student, turkish I think, who did something like that last year or so. Major challenge to make it fit is an understatement.
