Is the Canon Powershot SX40 HS considered Pro?
I'm going to a concert tonight at Nikon Jones Beach. They say they do not allow "Pro" cameras. The only side note next to that was that it includes cameras with detachable lenses, which mine is not. Although my camera is slightly big. I was wondering if my camera would be allowed. Please let me know As soon as possible.
By their stated definition, it should be allowed. Be aware, they make up the rules as they go along, so they may declare your camera "Pro".It sounds like to me they mean DSLR's and SLR's, but they may include SLC's. Your camera is known as a bridge camera camera, or super zoom. It should be OK.
Not even close to be considered pro. But it is a very nice upper level bridge camera. Even has a view finder that you can look through.
I probably wouldn't risk taking it. Most security people won't have a clue what a pro camera is.
If your camera is flat and the lens doesn't jut out more than an inch, they should allow it. If your camera resembles a small dSLR, the guys at the gate will confiscate it.
Not even close. Not in any way shape or form.
However, the people that are searching the belongings of the concert goers, I doubt they know anything about cameras or photography. It has a kind of dSLR shape, so that's enough for one dummy to say it's not allowed. You might not have time to explain, or might encounter a staff that just doesn't care. So, rules or no rules, the dummies checking you on the way in could either let it by, or tell you that you can't bring it in.
