RetiredPhil is right
If you are holding your camera and lens correctly, this will not happen.
* with your left hand cupped set the cameras base into it and use your fingers to grasp the lens.
* with your left hand, hold the side of the camera and rest your index finger on the shutter release.
* now bring the camera up to your eye and use your cheek to add the third point of this camera steadying hold.
Usually, when I'm shooting around 24MM, it will start creeping up and I have to constantly reduce it. Any ideas?
That is called a "zoom creep". It happens to many consumer grade zoom lenses. Because of gravity, weight of the moving lens assembly causes to move on its own. Some lenses come with lock so when carrying, it does not happen. If it is so lose that it happens with slight tilt of the lens, then your lens should be repaired. If it happens when they are nearly vertical, that's normal for many lenses.
