I don't have a smart phone, what kind of camera should I buy?
I have an old HP digital camera with 7 MP but more often than not the pics are fuzzy. So I want a better still shot camera. But I also have cats, and want to take video of them. I also shop at Walmart frequently and want to have a video camera in case a fight breaks. What is a good camera? I was thinking a point and shoot camera with 1080HD capabilities? There's one at Walmart for $170. I think it is a Nikon Cool Pix. Or maybe I should get a action camera, like a Hero. Basically I just want a lightweight camera to quickly catch video situations, and snap photos. The camera I have right now is kind of annoying because I miss good shots because it takes too long to focus, etc.
4k is better… It has 2160 lines and 3840 pixels per line.
Ideally you need to spend up around $400 and get one of the compacts with the larger 1" sensor so that you get better image quality in terms of dynamic range. (Blacks not too black with no detail, highlights not burned out with no detail.)

"i also shop at Walmart frequently and want to have a video camera in case a fight breaks." Wow. What a reason to want a camera. You just confirmed why I don't shop at Walmart.
A basic GoPro Hero would serve your needs well. The wide angle lens would be a great advantage in getting all the action in Walmart.
