I can't get my Microphone to work with my Camera, any Suggestions?
I recently bought a Vidpro Shotgun mic that I could use with my camera to make short films but I have a slight problem. When the Microphone is plugged into the Computer the quality is great and it works perfectly fine but when it is plugged into my Camera (nikon 5200) I just get random static. I've tested with some gaming headset microphones and it works perfectly fine (on the computer and on the camera) but the shotgun mic doesn't seem to work with the camera but it works perfectly fine with my computer. Any suggestions?
I would really appreciate some help because I'd like to work this summer on some of my short film projects.
Possibly the shotgun mic has stereo connector and the camera has mono, or vice versa. Are there the same number of separated rings on the shotgun as on the gaming mics? The other possible idea is that the connections are different in the mic connector. You would have to consult the specs in the data sheet. I assume the battery in the shotgun mic is good.
If you can get no luck, possibly you should visit a good audio shop with camera, gaming mics, and shotgun mic, and try to get help.
