How to fix the auto manual focus switch on a camera?
I have a NIkon DX3100. The lens is a 55-200 mm. The switch for auto and manual focusing will not move. Is there anyway i could fix this myself?
No.
You need to call Nikon. The lens and camera should still be under warranty.
800.NIKON-UX
Are you talking about the switch on the camera or lens?
If you attempt to do any type of repair yourself, you will void any warranty the lens has. The best thing to do is contact Nikon (1-800-NIKON-UX… 1-800-645-6689), and see what they can do for you.
You will need to send the lens into Nikon for repair or take it to an authorized repair center. They will be able to figure out why it doesn't move. If the lens is under warranty and it failed due to workmanship they will repair it free. If they determine it is the result of misuse/abuse (dropped it/ got it wet/etc.), then you would need to pay for it to be repaired.
If you have the ability to fix it, you would have done it by now. Since you obviously don't know how, it would be better to pay someone else to do it. If there's a glitch, at least you can blame someone else.
