How to change shutter speed on Nikon J1?
So I want to do some light painting on my new Nikon J1, it's my first camera so I'm not very good with changing the settings, etc. I've tried to google it but I can't find anything, only reviews of the camera. Can someone please tell me how to change the shutter speed to do light painting?
Have you read the instructions and user guides that came with it?
If not, this should be the first thing you do when you don't know what to do.
Once you have read your user manual and learn hot to choose shutter speeds do this
* Place you camera on a tripod.
* Aim and manually focus the lens to where you will be making your light graffiti
* Place the shutter speed on bulb and once your subject is ready, open the shutter and hold it open until your friend is finished writing with the light
NOTE:
You may have to adjust the lens aperture to assure that the resulting images are not over or underexposed
Sam is correct.
Here is the advice I follow and always tell people to follow ANYTIME they get a camera they are unfamiliar with:
1) Read the front of the manual to see how to properly charge the battery
2) While the battery is charging, read the camera manual cover to cover
3) When the battery is done charging, put it in the camera and re-read the camera manual cover to cover while exploring the cameras functions
4) When you have a question about the camera… Read the camera manual
