How to choose my DSLR?

Zoey

I'm not sure between buying a canon or a nikon. I hear good things from both brands. But i don't know much about choosing the right DSLR. I enjoy taking tons of pictures when i go on vacations of landscapes. But i want a DSLR that will allow me to take pictures of landscapes but also allow me to take pictures on a night out and family portraits. I might also want to be able to take pictures with nature. Landscapes, Nature, Night out, Portraits. Which DSLR is right for me? Any suggestions?

Added (1). I'm willing to to spend as much as need. But i look for a more cheaper dslr to fit my needs

How much do you want to spend?

Don't go with the highest grade; go with what feels right. Since you want it for general photography i would start off with the basic dslr.

Both Canon and Nikon have good range of DSLR cameras and lenses. Which brand you choose is not important, rather which model and lenses you buy will make a huge difference. Also, you will have to think about your budget allocations.

You don't choose your dSLR. The dSLR chooses you.

Any dSLR can be used for taking any shot. It all depends on how you use it. Cheaper dSLR's actually require a bit more skill to operate given that they're crippled in some way or another.

Go to the store in personal
1)Which feel nice in your hand?
2)What's your friends have?
3)What about their after sales support in your area?

Don't care the bells and whistle unless they are deal breakers to you mostly not

This question comes up with monotonous regularity. I suggest that you look very closely at either Nikon or Canon as used by the Professionals (emulation is the sincerest form of flattery). A good comparison website will give you an unbiased view and in some cases the costs involved.

All dSLRs will do what you ask. Just get the right lens (the advantage of owning an SLR) and learn how to use your camera.
