What DSLR camera to choose?

I'm a total newbie in this field of photography, specially in terms of dealing with DSLRs. I'm planning to buy my very first DSLR soon and I'm choosing between Canon 550D/Kiss x4/Rebel T2i, Nikon D3100 and Nikon D90. I need a camera that would pay for its price, with ease of use and that I could have for a long time. If you have any other camera suggestions, please tell. Thanks alot!

Added (1). So, I'll be taking D90 off the list. Now I'm puzzled in between Canon 550D or Nikon D3100.

Leave Nikon d90 because it costs more and it was a camera for advanced armature market.

Both Nikon D3100 and canon 550d are best entry level cameras that pay for it's price.

If you r more interested in making videos using dslr i would suggest 550d because it has 1080p 24, 25.30fps+720p up to 60fps video recording compared to 1080p 24fps and 720p 24, 25, 30fps video recording, other wise go for new Nikon d3100.

Listen, don't buy kit lens if you want very high quality photos… Go for Nikkor 35mm f1.8 dx lens you would get amazed of it…

The D90 is the most advanced of the 4 you mentioned…

Nikon D3100 and Canon 550D both are good cameras. Both have some advantages and some disadvantages. Also Canon is launching a next version of 550D which is called as Canon 600D.
I would suggest that you compare this camera also with Nikon D3100. You can refer these links for comparison.

One more thing which is not mentioned in the links above while comparison is that Nikon D3100 can't record a single video for more than 10 mins. While Canon can record each video upto 29min 59 secs.
