What is the difference between Nikon's EXPEED and EXPEED 2?

I've shot with a D5000 for awhile and now going into the professional field I upgraded to a D90 (I know not a big jump but I'm working my way up). But I was told that the D7000 is a better camera than the D300s MAINLY because of the EXPEED 2 in it. I know the d7000 has alot more pluses on the D300s (I don't get why the d300s is more if it does less besides FPS and AF points) But should for my next upgrade i want to know how big of a difference the two sensors are. Is there a big difference? Any comparison shots?

The D300s is a much more robust camera and thus the choice of pros who need an APS-C sensored camera to supplement their D3 series cameras.

The D7000 is an amazing camera, especially for what it costs. What you see in the D7000 will probably be reflected in the new replacement of the D300 sometime in the third quarter of 2012

The evolution of the EXPEED 2 is just that. As technology advances, so do the integrated circuits found on devices.

I still use an old D300 and it still performs well enough to produce marketable images.

Here is a sample from "old technology" shot at 3200 ISO

As you can see, you should expect even better images at high ISO's with the D7000

Well then you will want to go out and buy a Nikon 1 as it has an Expeed 3 processor.

Thing is, one component by itself does little do determine how good a camera is, but rather all of the components in the collective define it's performance.

Also, the D3x, D3s, and D700 have an Expeed processor.
