Nikon in August 2011, what will they announce?

OK the rumor maybe heard the most is nikon, but i'm quite sure the others like canon, sony, olympus, or even pentax won't stay calm this 24th of august. So just as your own opinion, what do you think they will announce?

I gotta say, it's gonna be important, since from my own calculation, it's quite predictable that at least the replacement for D3S, D300s, or D700 should be announced, since:

1. D3X and D700 pretty much sold out in most of the store
2. They don't have a competing-able (sorry bad english) video feature against canon
3. Rumor of company problem (closed manufacturer in japan, moving to malaysia, etc) may affect their market

So what do you think? Since it's just a rumor, just take it easy, but i'm really concern too, since i have to decide soon: nikon or canon…

Number 3.is completely bogus

Nikon and other camera makers have been using the "world manufacturing" process for many years.

Malaysia, Thailand and other countries have been assembling cameras and lenses from Japanese manufactured parts for over eight years. What counts is the quality control.

The August 2011 date has been moved forward to October 2011 because of the earthquake and subsequent tsunami. Look for the new D800 (replacing the D700), D400 (replacing the D300s) and D4 (replacing the D3s)

This has been a best guess from the many who are close to the marketing arm of Nikon

If you are trying to decide between Nikon and Canon systems, your three questions are irrelevant.

Take a look at this link and rethink your question

After you have read the whole article, you may see why so many freelance photographers moved from Canon to Nikon since the China Olympics when the D3 was introduced to the working sport photographers

If you happen to be a measurebater, look at the sensor performance of the various camera models here

D3x and D3s doesn't need updating not this year, D700 and D300s maybe. But I don't see any reason for them to release New DSLR this year.

Nikon's scheduled Aug 24th press conference is still on as far as I know. Sony has also scheduled a press conference on the same date.

#3. Yes it's true, Nikon did move a plant to Malaysia, right after the earthquake/tsunami. The problem, I believe was that not only did the plant suffer some damage, but the infrastructure in that area of the country was severely damaged; electrical power, roads, shipping capability, you name it.

They were able to completely move the plant and relocate it's workers to Malaysia within just a short period of time after the earthquake, and resumed production within I think 30 days.

Whether they move back in a year or two after the infrastructure can handle their plant remains to be seen.

Nikon's profits were up 12% last quarter, which is outstanding since Japan had that earthquake. The plant move was not because they were in financial trouble, but so they could quickly get the plant back on line.
