I'm new to photography but i'll like to expand on possibly doing professional shooting in the near future. Which camera would be a good investment? Reason for being selective is I don't want one where I'll just use it for occasional shooting and then have to upgrade to a different model immediately.

I have a few camera i've been looking into recently.

canon eso 650d or the rebel t4i as they call it
d3200
60d
d7000

of course, these are just some I picked out, but if you got one you love, feel free to list them and explain why it's the better option in your opinion. I'm very open-minded and I trust your judgement.

My preferable brand is canon OR nikon

Cheers

You won't be "doing professional shooting in the near future." Maybe in several YEARS.

Go to a local camera shop and try out the cameras you've listed. Buy whichever one feels more comfortable to use.

You mentioned 2011-2012 models? The d7000 is a 2010 model, but that doesn't make it a bad camera.

Regardless of which camera you buy, you'll also need a genuine spare battery, 2 or 3 8GB Class 10 SDHC cards, a card reader, a case and several basic photography books.

It so amazing to me how someone with admitadly no photo experience thinks they can compete with photographers who've been out there for 30 years and know their craft inside and out. Yet here you come with dreams and can come true but it's going to take years of hard work.

I recommend any of the Canon Rebel models for you because you won't be doing professional work any time soon.

Of the four cameras you listed, the D3200 and D7000 have the best performing sensors especially in low light.

Buying the D3200 will give you more room to buy a second or third lens.
