Nikon 55mm f1.2? Portrait lens for DX?

I recently asked whether or not a nikon 85mm f1.8 AFD would overlap to much with my 70-210mm f4. The answer I got was a strong no. I completely understand why and agree. A couple of the answers suggested manual focus AI and AIS lenses. I already have 180mm f2.8 ai and use it as my main portrait lens. What I thought is that 85mm may be to long on DX and that 55mm would be just about perfect for a portrait lens on DX. So my question is, dose anyone use this lens on DX as a portrait lens, what are your results? Price is a big issue for me the 85mm AFD is $300 and the 55mm is about the same. I'm using it on a d200 which gives full metering so no issue there. I appreciate this. Thanks in advance.

Added (1). Well I'm hardly a gear head. I'm just a 16 year old kid who loves art and particularly photography. I have saved some money and just wanted to treat myself to a true portrait lens. Not that I can't take portraits with my other lenses but I want something with great bokeh that is shorter than my 45 year old 180 2.8. That's all.

I use a 50mm f/2.8 to take photos of my baby (on an APS-C 1.5x crop sensor) and I find it ideal.

Ultimately only you will know if it meets your requirements I guess.

For a DX sensor a 55mm is a good portrait lens, possibly a 70 or 85 is better, but but it's a personal judgment. You are obviously keen on the portraits you get from the 180mm, so that's your thing. Unless you are taking portraits in very dark areas there seems little point in getting the f1.2 as opposed to the f1.4, which is optically an excellent lens and would be cheaper. It strikes me that, in asking this question, and the previous one about the overlap, you are an equipment geek who likes to contemplate and play with new toys. Fine if that's your thing, but in many ways you already have a competent outfit; let's hope that any nerw purchase will not leave you hankering after yet more new optics. Use what you have already to good effect! You poses the means in your 70 to 210 to judge whether an 85 or a 55 (just a bit shorter than the 70) would be good for your portraits. Both are much shorter than the 180.
