Nikon 24-85mm F2.8-4 or Tamron 28-105mm F2.8?

Which of these two would you rather get for a Nikon D700 as an all around lens, and why?

Added (1). I already have a 14-24mm f2.8 for wide, and a 80-200mm f2.8D for zoom, and a 50mm f1.8 for mid/low light. I just want to get a decent cheap FX/DX mid range lens I can take on trips with my D7000, but that will also work ok on my D700 when needed.

Personally I wouldn't go for either. I'd rather get single focal length lenses. F/2.8 at 105mm is pretty exciting! Just be warned. Tamron isn't know for quality. You may be better off with the Nikon or if you have the 18-55mm, keep the money for something better later.

Neither. They're both decent lenses, but the 700 deserves better. Lenses are more important than the camera body, so you should consider selling your 700 and buying a 3200 or 5100 so you have more money to put towards glass.

I would probably get the nikon, because of the wider angle and because all things being equal (more or less) it makes sense to get the same brand.

Of course if you need the extra reach then get the Tamron (for me personally if I need the extra reach I would just get a separate 70-200mm lens)
