Is there adapter that will make my vivitar lens compatible with my nikon d200? (F-mount)?

Couldn't find one online; any advice/help would be appreciated.

Added (1). The vivitar lens goes on my pentax camera, while the nikon d200 has an F-mount.

Difficult to say, could be but remember this. If there's your auto focus and exposure may not work.
It will also cost you at least 1 if not 2 f/stops when you use a converter.

Your "F" mount Vivitar sounds like an older film based lens, and only Pentax will accept lenses from this era. It was quite common to see adapters for various lenses to fit other cameras. But with the electronics the way they are these days that is no longer possible. One has to just look through a large camera shop on line offerings like Adorama, or B&H Photo and you will see several listings of a lens but each listing is a certain camera mount, like Canon, Nikon or Pentax! The main reason as I see it, is that Canon & Nikon, etc. Have the stabilization feature built into the lens. Where as the Pentax line has the stabilization feature built-in to the camera body not every lens made.

Any F-mount lens will fit your D200 if it is AI compliant.

Even it it isn't, you can have it modified to be an AI lens.

I can use any of my old Nikkor manual focus lenses (some made in 1972) that are AI or modified to AI on any of the Nikon D100, D200, D300 and even my D3

What this means is that if your vivitar lens is an F-mount lens it will fit

If the Vivitar is Nikon mount, it doesn't need an adapter (Vivitar distributed generic lenses in a number of mounts, and some of their lenses were very good - of course others were sh*t).

If it isn't, it's more trouble than it's worth.
