Is it worth buying a Nikon D4 if I'm not a professional photographer?

Photography is just something that keeps me busy. I never sold any of my pictures. I'm only 2 years photographing as a hobby. What's your opinion about it, is it worth or not?

If money is not a problem for you, I don't see why you wouldn't buy it. Now, if you'll have to save for a whole year just to buy that, I don't think it's worth it.

As a hobbyist, a nice Nikon D610 full frame or the new Nikon D9300 (when it becomes available) is plenty camera for you.

After you pick your camera, spend your money on more lenses.

No…

The reason for this answer is because… You had to ask.

If you knew what you were doing, you wouldn't be asking the question… I'm not saying that it wouldn't be the right camera for you, i'm just suggesting that you aren't ready to make that purchase.

Try doing some research and actually working out what you expect from a camera and what specification, functions and features would help you get the best results… Understand the specs and features on the cameras that you are interested in and then make your choice…

Well, it's certainly a camera to grow into. It is immensely powerful, lightning quick, and will shoot in places so dark that you can barely see what's going on.

For someone with two years of experience I would consider it somewhat excessive, but if you can afford it and you want it, then nothing's stopping you.

Just don't fall into the trap of assuming it will improve your photography just like that. You'll have to get used to it first.
