How to set exposure and timing on my camera?

The camera I'm using is a Nikon D300. I need to set the time exposure to F/16 or F/22 at 1+ seconds, but the only instructions I've received is to use the B setting. However, when I go to B on the camera's menu, I find more than a few options and I have no idea where to go from there.
I also need to be able to time the camera so that it takes a photo about ten seconds after I press the button (so that I can take a self-portrait, for example.) I have no idea how to go about doing this.

Have you got an owner's manual? If not you can download one from Nikon in pdf form. That book will give you all the details.

Suggest you download the manual if you haven't got one as these are basic operational questions…
To set an exposure at f16 for one second, do the following;
Press & hold the Mode button (on top near the ON/OFF switch) and rotate the rear dial until M (for manual) appears in top LCD window.
To set shutter speed - rotate rear dial until the shutter speed reads 1".
To set the aperture - rotate the front dial until the aperture reads f16.
To set the self timer, check how long its set for by going into the 'Customs Settings Menu' (Press Menu button & select the small pencil icon). Scroll down to C - Timers/AE Lock. Press OK. Select Menu item C4 - Self Timer Delay - you can choose between 2, 5, 10 or 20 seconds. Press OK once selected.
To set the self timer, use the wheel to the left of the hotshoe. Press & hold the small button near the 11 o'clock position, whilst turning the knurled wheel to self timer (a small dial face - its between Lv and Mup).
