High Speed Flash Tranmitters?

I saw a set up with Nikon SB900 on a monopod with an umbrella, is there any transmitter that will allow me to use that set up in high speed sync mode? I'm thinking 1000th/s+?

Added (1). I have a D700 but the flash sync doesn't work unless there's line of sight, the sensor has to be facing the camera to work. If i were to have this set up i'm worried that if my assistant keeps moving it the umbrella or the angle of the flash will disrupt the signal etc?

Nikon has an IR remote control system built into the SB900 and the advanced amateur and pro cameras; all but the entry level (D3000 and D5000 series) cameras. This is a native remote control system allowing you to use the flash off-camera with an IR control system. And it supports both iTTL and high-speed FP sync.

So simply use what you have already built into your equipment.

But if you have a Nikon entry level camera (D3000, D3100, D5000, D5100, etc), and even some high end Nikons like the D3s that do not have a built-in flash, those cameras lack the capability to remote-control flash units.

In that case, you can buy either a SU-800, which is a remote commander that fits atop the hot-shoe, or another SB900 (or SB900), as those can act as a remote commander.

So if you have an advanced amateur Nikon; D90, D7000, etc. All you need to do to remote control a SB900 is to set it up for CLS commander mode.

If you have any other model Nikon, you need to buy a SU-800 or use a second SB700 or SB900 to act as the CLS commander master. Which ever one you use is up to you, but you must connect it to the hot-shoe of the camera. It will then take the camera's information and transmit it via IR to the remote flash(es).
