Does a Nikon D200 work with newer lens?
I have been looking into older dslr cameras and I was wondering if a Nikon D200 would work with newer lens? That way I can get acheaper dslr but still have good quality lens and pictures.
The D200 can take manual-focus AI and AIS lenses (obviously without autofocus), and allows autofocus with both AF and AF-S lenses.
I'll leave it to you to work out what that means.
A used Nikon D200 is a great pro-level camera. I've used mine with Nikon AF, AF-D, AF-G, AF-S and even manual focus Nikon mount lenses. It will mount and meter with virtually anything that fits any Nikon, past or future.
But be aware that the D100, D200, 300, etc don't have any of the popular modes that you'll find on the D7xxx series or below. It's very capable, but you'll need to understand a bit more of photography to capture the images you want.
You can get the same compatibility with the D90, D7000, or D7100 series, if you are looking for solid, compatible older models.
