Cameras using CF cards have a whole raft of problems that SD cards do not have. You may have a bent pin in the slot or other damage. Have you tried another CF card? In any case if the camera is under warranty contact Nikon immediately.

To have NikonUSA repair (only in the US - other countries check Nikon's website for details)

I've dropped/broken things before and they do an excellent job restoring. I have no idea what they would charge for your broken CF slot but you can submit the request and ship to them, they will provide an estimate that you can approve or reject before proceeding with the work. If bought from authorized NikonUSA dealer it may still be under 1 year warranty if they are able to determine that it was not negligence that caused the break. Also, check with another card to make sure it is not simply your one card that is the problem.

There are also NikonUSA "authorized repair centers" that friends of mine have used successfully. Try Googling for them.

Hope this helps!
