Filmmaking tips? Dslr users?
Hi i'm interested in making short films using my Nikon 3200.i've studied somethings about filmmaking but can anyone give me tips on how to improve acting or filming, camera, lens e.t.c. Not really big budget movies but short documentaries is what i have in mind
You need to write a script, make a storyboard and a shooting script. Being a director YOU need to set up the lighting for each scene and direct the actors.
Here is a sample of a well crafted video (film actually requires you to use 16 mm or 35 mm motion picture camera)
Directors don't do lighting they draw the storyboards and direct actors, the director of photography does the lighting…
get the best crew you can, camera operator, soundie, research documentry script writing,
end of the day lighting will dictate your look so get someone that can use lighting.
Wow, that's such a huge topic. Study other short films, not watch them, study them. Identify things like camera angles, transitions (one frame to the next), how expressions are portrayed and captured, etc. Use google to find articles and videos on film making. Read books. Talk to other like minded people; join a meetup group. Of course, this is assuming that you are not directing, writing, etc. Just filming. Each area is a lot of time and effort, which is why even short films are done by more than one person… If they want it to be interesting and the subject isn't interesting on its own.
