Equipment for wedding photography?
Me and my uni friend have decided to jump into a partnership photography business. We would be mainly focusing wedding photography. As we're still students and low on budget we plan to buy used gears. I already own a nikon dslr that would be used as a secondary camera for event stills. I need you to suggest me the equipment to atleast get this started. We have capital of PKR-100,000=$1000usd.
and please advise me what i would be needing.
If you don't know what equipment you need then you have no business doing wedding photography (or any other kind that you charge for, for that matter).
Bear in mind that this is THE most important day of a bride's life - and you don't even know what gear you need?
You CAN do weddings with USD 1000 worth of gear. If, however, you have no idea WHICH gear to buy, you can't do weddings with USD 10,000 worth of gear. Weddings are the worst place to start. You can't reshoot a wedding if you mess it up.
The main "gear" you will need is some kind of liability insurance for when you get sued. $1000 is not even a decent start to what you need, and as deep blue stated, if you have to ask what you need, you have NO business doing what you are planning. Maybe after you have botched a wedding and have the wrath of the bride and groom down on you, you might begin to get some common sense in your head.
You could always use your budget to buy pots and pans… And start a catering company with your Uni friend… You can't get sued if you poison all your customers… Just make sure they pay you up front.
Catering is a lot like photography… It helps an awful lot if you know what you are doing…
Oh come on please. If you have no idea what equipment you need then just how the heck do you think you can start any business let alone a specialist one like wedding photography.
Go away and learn photography in general for the next 4 or 5 years and then spend a year or two assisting an established wedding snapper.
Then and only then you might be in a position to CONSIDER starting up a photography business.
