Your thoughts on the Pentax K-X?

WAS leaning towards the Nikon D3100 or Canon Rebel XSI until I stumbled across this gem… I think this may be the winner… Your thoughts?

The advantage of nikon over pentax is build quality and flexibility to upgrade, pentax is doing good but nikon is excellent in optics nikon lenses are a little bit better than canon, i use both i do have canon cameras and lenses and i do like more nikon, i use pentax kodak sigma and olympus and and nikon is on top the one that can beat nikon is hasselblad and leica with the highest more expensive cameras
if you are thinking to but the pentax k-x get a nikon instead
here is the thing nikon d40 and 50 vs pentax d40 and d50 are excellent cameras but i prefer the d50 cuz its a lot easy to handle and it can use all af lenses and the d40 is limited with some af-s lenses
nikon D50 is about 250 a used kit with low actuation and picture quality is awesome i'm pro full frame camera and i still love it, if you want a better camera get the D90 its the perfect camera for amateurs this camera has an excellent picture quality similar to the d300
Nikon D50 $200
Nikon 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6G ED II AF-S DX $70
Nikon 55mm-200mm f/4-5.6G ED-IF AF-S DX VR $140
Nikon 50mm f/1.8D AF $100
$520
vs.
Pentax DA 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6
Pentax DA 50-200mm f/4.0-5.6
Pentax SMCP-A 50mm f/2.0
$710
at the end you are the one who decide i drop 4 times my d50 and it got few scratches if i drop my pentax i'm not sure if it will be alive
also i ckecked on ebay pentax right now is about 650 a kit and d90 is about 750
and to be honest d90 has 39 autofocus points pentax? Haha

The Technical Image Press Association chose the Pentax K-x as its 2010 "Best DSLR Entry Level".
Here is a review: http://www.shutterbug.net/equipmentreviews/amateur_digital_slrs/0510pentax/index.html
Note that the Pentax K-x has a focusing motor in the camera body. Any Pentax AF lens made since 1988 can be used on the K-x and will auto focus as it should. The Nikon D3100 does not have a focusing motor in the camera body so you must use Nikon's AF-S lenses if you want auto focus. All those fine Nikon AF lenses can be used but only with manual focus.
Note that the Pentax K-x has the Pentax version of Image Stabilization in the camera body so any lens used on the K-x, even a legacy manual focus lens from 1975, becomes an IS lens. Nikon has their version of IS, called Vibration Reduction (VR) in some but not all of its lenses. Plus you have to pay for it again and again.
Note that the Pentax K-x has double/multiple exposure capability of from 2 to 9 images on a single frame with Auto EV Compensation. This opens up a whole new world of creativity to you. The Nikon D3100 does not allow double/multiple exposures.
Pentax and Nikon have the best backwards lens compatibility of any DSLR cameras on the market.
Sony is a close third since they use the legacy Minolta Maxxum AF lens mount that dates back to 1985.
Here are the current prices at B&H - http://www.bhphotovideo.com/...ovideo.com
Pentax K-x w/18-55mm lens, $547.00
Pentax K-x w/18-55mm & 55-300mm lenses, $679.95
Nikon D3100 w/18-55mm lens, $649.95
So for $30.00 more than the cost of the D3100 you can buy a 2 lens Pentax K-x kit.
My vote goes to the Pentax K-x. More features at a lower price.
