Would it be possible to use the same lens I use for my Nikon F-801s for a Nikon D5000?

I can't seem to figure out what lens it is. I've already got the Nikon F-801s and I was considering getting the Nikon D500 and I hear he kit lens isn't any good so I was wondering if I could use the same lens I use for my old camera. I think the lens name is Nikkor 35mm 1:21, if that makes sense please do tell if it's a good lens or not.

IF you need help identifying a lens a picture with the markings on the front clearly readable always helps.

Guessing from the information here, yes it will work but it will not autofocus. If your lens has a metal tab sticking out like you see on this picture image then it's a different matter. Those old lenses will not meter on a d5000. Means that you can use them but only in the M mode of the camera.

I doubt that it is a "35mm 1:21" Check it. It might work but not with all facilities.

It won't autofocus. If you want it to autofocus, you'll have to get a D90 or better.

You can use your old lens provided its marked as AF, AF-D but you won't be able to use the auto focus since d5000 has no built in motor in the body which is required for older lenses to AF. The lowest available model for that is d90. If you want to use those lens, you will have to focus manually. You can still have metering for it and a green dot in the viewfinder if you have focus.

I've use a nikon AF nikkor 50mm f/1.8 D with nikon d40 which also has no motor and its manual focus with metering.
