Will This Lens Fit on a Nikon D80?

I'm looking to buy a Macro lens for my Nikon D80.
My price range is no more than $300.
I'm going to be taking pictures of Veneers / Teeth and peoples mouths.
This is the lens I'm looking at:

Yes, Nikon makes lens that will fit on just about every camera if not ever camera they make.

Yes it will fit & work just fine.

Yes it will work fine, but the 40 mm will require you to be very close to the subject. Too close can cause shadows case by you or the camera/lens

Since this is a business expenditure, I suggest you budget for the Nikkor AF-S 105 mm f/2.8 and some kind of ring light.

$300 is an unrealistic budget for any macro lens used in the medical field

Yes, it will fit and work fine as the D80 is a DX camera, but if you can afford the extra for the Nikon 85mm Micro or the Tokina 100mm Macro lens for Nikon I would strongly recommend getting one of those instead.

The 40mm lens isn't bad quality wise, but it is short and you do have to get really very close to your subject with it, so it is difficult to use it close up and not end up blocking out your light.

The Tokina is one of the best quality macro lenses on the market. It gets great reviews. For example: http://www.kenrockwell.com/...mm-f28.htm

If you really can't afford more than the 40mm lens, consider getting a ring flash or ring light as well as you will really need the extra light.

Yes the Nikkor 40mm f2.8 Micro lens will work just fine on your D80. However, since you have to be within 6'' to get the full 1:1 reproduction ratio that might make your subject a little uncomfortable - personal space and all that, you know. A better choice might be the Nikkor 60mm f2.8 Micro lens (9'' close focusing) or the Nikkor 105mm f2.8 Micro lens (12'' close focusing).
