Will the Nikkor 50mm f1.8 AIS version work with a nikkor d3100?
I know it won't autofocus but other than that

Non-CPU: Can be used in mode M, but Exposure Meter does not Function; Electronic Rangefinder can be used if Maximum Aperture is f/5.6 or Faster
This means you will have to guess the exposure. And when you take the actual shot, you'll have to stop down the lens (set the aperture to what it is supposed to be) manually. Suited for studio photos because you're in control - but for other type of photos that you will need to do it in a second, it's not very practical.
